Learning is something that I am always doing. Ignorance can be cured, after all. So, what then, have I learned about myself and my own religious beliefs? What then, do I truly know? Am I ignorant?
Let me begin with the simplest question out of all of these; Am I ignorant?
In one way or another, we are all ignorant. Even someone who knew all of the answers to every question could still be ignorant. So, what then, is ignorance? Ignorance is merely the lacking of knowledge or the lacking of knowing how to use one's knowledge. In other words, either someone who is uneducated about something, anything, or a fool can be counted as ignorant.
So, yes, I am ignorant. I do not have all of the answers and I am not the wisest of the wise. It would be arrogant of me to claim wisdom, but I have to admit that I am wiser than some people I know. I have done foolish things. Thus is the nature of humans. We make mistakes so we can learn and grow from those mistakes. Those who cannot learn and grow, those people are the real fools. Those who can learn and grow from watching others and avoiding as many mistakes as possible without it ruining life for them, those are the truly wise. I always felt that life is best enjoyed somewhere in between wisdom and foolishness. You have just enough foolishness to enjoy doing something crazy, and yet enough wisdom to know that a) you're doing something crazy that might get you hurt and b) a plan to deal with any injuries that might happen.
So, is wisdom and knowledge a goal worth obtaining? Are they good qualities?
Having wisdom and knowledge is having power. Ignorance is something you don't want to have too much of. If you are wise enough to know what you believe in, how to help others and yourself, and how to live your life happily, than you are awesome. Having knowledge on anything is better than having knowledge on nothing. It is impossible for us to rid ourselves of ignorance 100% of the way. There will always be something we do not, or cannot, know.
All wisdom is, is being able to use knowledge. So use what you know to do what you can do. If you know how to save a life by rushing into a fire, as long as you are aware that fire burns and know how to avoid getting burns as much possible, than do it.
More question arise from this that I will answer in later posts.
