Merry Meet, Dear Seeker, and welcome to my explanation on Alignments.
When discussing the nature of others, it is important to keep in mind that not everyone thinks or views the world in the same way. This has created a system of the human's nature know as The Alignments. Well I may not be one to agree with this, it is the best method I know on explaining how I view the world to others who believe that there is both an absolute good and absolute evil in this world. Whether or not you believe in an absolute good or evil, it is important to consider the alignments of others when trying to understand them. This is not a means of putting labels on people; people can, and will, act out of their alignment if put under the right circumstances. Please understand that I do not fully support this idea. Once more, this is just the best way I can explain myself to others who believe in an absolute good and an absolute evil. I do not believe in absolute good and absolute evil.
The Alignments are organized as Follows:
Lawful Good Neutral/True Good Chaotic Good
Lawful Neutral True Neutral Chaotic Neutral
Lawful Evil Neutral/True Evil Chaotic Evil
Now, to explain what each of these alignments mean:
Lawful Good means that you abide by the law. You do not break the law. You help others as best as you can, not for the fame, but for the sake of helping others. You love helping people. Most police officers, community service workers, and truly devote Christians or Jews (like Jesus) fall into the category.
Neutral/True Good means that you are either lawful nor chaotic. You may break a few rules, like skipping school or smoking under age, but you don't mean anyone any harm. You still care about others and may just help that old lady cross the street. You are a genuinely good person. You are passive when it comes to your beliefs, whatever they maybe. You may get into a fight or two to protect either yours or your lovers pride, but you wont go out of your way to start one. Some police officers, citizen heroes, and most, not all, children under the age of 8 are this alignment.
Chaotic Good means that you will fight for what you believe is right. The law means nothing to you if the law goes against what you believe is right. You help people in your own way. You stand-up for what you believe is good and anyone who disagrees with you is doing something you consider to be evil. Most Christians who press their beliefs on others and argue with those who disagree with them, all vigilantes, and most, if not all, military personnel are this alignment.
Lawful Neutral means that you abide by the law. You wont go out of your way to help people, most of the time, but you also wont go out of your way to hurt them, most of the time. You live and let live, so to speak. You believe that there is a reason the laws are there, so you follow them. Most people are this alignment.
True Neutral means that you believe in the balance. Law and chaos are both needed, without one, the other cannot exist. Good and evil are just perspective, there is no absolute good and evil. For every action that hurts someone, the opposite action (to help someone) is being taken by another. For there to be peace, there must be war. For there to be life, there most be death. This doesn't mean you like the idea of war and death, it only means that you accept that they are needed for their opposite to exist. You choose whether or not you help someone or hurt someone; any law that stands in your way may simply be ignored. Any random person can be this rare alignment. I am one such person. Yes, I follow the Wiccan Rede, but I understand that there is someone out there who is going against every part of the Rede.
Chaotic Neutral means that you bathe in the glory of chaos. If someone is upset that you made a joke, then you will most likely have fun with their anger. If someone gets into a fight, then you are the person cheering them on or joining in. You don't mean to be so annoying, or maybe you do, its just who you are. You still can be a nice person or a mean one. You might help someone with something or maybe you hang out with your friends or the opposite. People might call you crazy, and you very well maybe. Most party animals, pranksters, and insane people are this alignment.
Lawful Evil means that you abide by the laws, but it doesn't mean you like them. You obey the laws out of fear of punishment. However, you exploit them as much as you can. You look for the loop holes in them so that you may take advantage of the laws and of others. Corrupt politicians, greedy salesmen, and overly-priced websites are this alignment.
Neutral/True Evil means that you are apart of the world of crime. Harassing or bullying people is fun to you. You want something, but don't have enough money for it, then you might as well hide it in your pocket or steal it. If someone is giving you a hard time or a lover broke-up with you, you might just go out and wreck their car or home. You opt to get into fights and have fun giving people a hard time. You will think long and hard before killing someone to the point that you may or may not kill them. Most thieves, drug sellers, and trouble makers are this alignment.
Chaotic Evil means that you live for the suffering of others. You enjoy torturing people and hurting people. Others are there for you to stomp out in order to reach whatever it is that you want. You are not afraid to kill someone if they become a problem to you, or if you just feel like. Laws mean nothing to you; they only stand in your way as well. You exploit others without hesitation. You lie, cheat, and/or enslave people. Most crime bosses, serial killers, and cult leaders are this alignment.
I hope this helped you to better understand where I stand on my beliefs thus far. I will be going into further detail later one. Merry Part and Blessed Be, Dear Seeker. )O(
